Materials
3.5 mm hook
#4 worsted weight in 2 colors (main color and color of alien)
160 yds for main color, 50 yds for accent color
Yarn needle
Scissors
Gauge:
Rounds 1-3 should measure 2 in.
Abbreviations
-US terminology
St(s) - stitch(es)
Slst - slip stitch
Ch(s) - chain(s)
Inc - increase (half double crochet 2 times in same stitch)
MR - magic ring
Hdc - half double crochet
Hdcw - half double crochet waistcoat
FLO - front loop only
(..) - total number of sts in a round.
[..] - repeat instructions in brackets depending on x number of times following brackets.
Notes
-Main color will be written in black and secondary color will be written in green.
-You will be working with the waistcoat stitch for a good portion of this pattern. If you are not familiar with the waistcoat stitch or tapestry crochet, there are many wonderful YouTube videos that go into detail to help you.
-If you don’t want your accent color to show through when switching colors, make sure when you are carrying your yarn to have your main color in front of the accent color.
-It will help you if your main color of yarn is in cake form so you can use both ends of the yarn more easily when doing color changes. (I will have a note where you are supposed to add in the second strand of your main color.)
*Be sure you are not finishing the last stitch by pulling through all 3 loops before every color change. Finish off the stitch with the new color.
